THE GLACIER MODEL: A FRAME FOR JAMES BOND

Since first created in the 80s, Vuarnet’s famous Glacier glasses have remained a symbol of performance and quality. Designed for the mountain peaks, these glasses were worn by the greatest mountaineers of the time who appreciated the unrivaled comfort and protection the glasses provided. Their success spread rapidly beyond the french Alps and the model has now seduced the most famous secret agent in history, James Bond in Spectre. The unique and high-tech design of Vuarnet’s Glacier glasses have made them a reference and a style icon.

THE 03 MODEL: THE CALIFORNIA SPIRIT

Launched in 1962, the 03 model is inspired by the style of US Air Force pilots with its straight lines and XL square shape. After Alain Delon wore the 06 model in La Piscine in 1969, Vuarnet again made its mark in the cinema in the late 90s in the lm The Big Lebowski directed by the Coen brothers in Los Angeles with Jeff Bridges embodying Jeffrey Lebowski aka "The Dude" and wearing the 03 model. The 03 model is being revived in the wake of the success of this cult film. This autumn Vuarnet is re-releasing the famous frame to the delight of its fans.

THE HISTORY:

VUARNEToriginally Skilynx Acier, is a French-based company developed by Roger Pouilloux and Joseph Hatchiguian in 1957 to aid the French Ski Team after the invention of the Skilynx lens. Once alpine ski racer Jean Vuarnet won the Downhill gold medal at the 1960 Winter Olympics, they renamed the company and marketed their product to the masses. VUARNET's scratch- and impact-resistant lenses are distinct due to their unique multi-layered anti-reflective treatments, UVA, UVB, and UVC radiation filtration, and meticulous polishing to ensure distortion-free vision.
